There is very little benefit to using silent gear, especially on a pickaxe. You can get max speed on an ATM pickaxe w/ enchants and apotheosis, easily enough. Going through any extra hassle isn't worth it, imo. You can get ATM in less than half an hour from starting, if you really wanted to. The configuration disables the ability to mix materials when crafting the item/tool, but you can mix materials in the alloy machine to create a handful of alloy ingots, giving you the mixes stats and bonuses.
