The code reader read the P1299 engine code. The weird thing is the engine is not hot at all. It only ran for a minute. Just doing some testing I would run the car until I got the issue turn it off, erase the code and start it again. It would run for a minute and get the high temp engine shutting down.

Hey guy’s I have this Escape with these code P1299 Cylinder head - temperature protection. We change engine coolant temp sensor, coolant level sensor. This particular escape does not come with the cylinder head temp sensor. The car had all of his recall done., Let it cool down and check the coolant level. It may be a faulty sensor but can be a real issue if the coolant is so low the sensor is not properly immersed. Lots of reports on coolant low due to various sources including the dreaded head gasket leaking.
