Jul 15, 2016 · I'd like to get this achievement too, and maybe some Factorio friends. Current singleplayer run has 4:50 hours left and i've just started oil processing and only blue science techs left, no idea if it will be enough. But i think even the start could be faster in multiplayer. I'm from north EU (Finland) and can host dedicated if need. There is no spoon on defaults (it was not that hard, after all) For many years I dreamed about completing no spoon on default settings. And that dream has finally come true. Initial resources on default settings are very scarce. And outposts always were a major time sink and headache to me. So I decided to run research at minimal possible speed ... Find a good map. My total resource consumptions: 600k iron, 400k copper, 280k coal. Decent patches within start area will make your life much easier. There are also plenty of map setting suggestions to avoid bitters though challenge is fun :) The only research I did beyond rocket tree is circuit network.The first two hours is the most important to get right. Keep multiple saves. (Spoon-1, Spoon-2, etc.) at regular time intervals so you can backtrack if things go sideways. Huge starting area (I didn't realize this), rich large resources. I also prefer a desert starting area. Chopping trees costs time.
