For me, the cheapest I would go is the milspec. Part of the attraction of a 1911 is that it is like the small block chevy; there is a huge aftermarket for it. You can build it any way you want or you can have a pro do it for you. The milspec is great foundation to build a custom or just add some nice features. joe.
