If detonation is still noticed, then it would be a good idea to replace/reinstall the VOES. I do not know whether your replacement carburetor has a vacuum tap but one is necessary in order to operate the VOES. If it doesn't have a tap like the Harley carburetor, you could tap into the manifold. The tap must be inside of the carburetor butterfly.

2000 883 VOES question. I got a 2000 883 hugger and i broke the VOES switch, im trying to get a new one and now im finding ones that say 6in and 5in or 4in.
