26 reviews. 2 years ago. Lot: 19-15284-CR-04. Aroma is lovely, bright jackfruit and desert asphalt roads. There’s definitely some vanilla, chaparral herbs, and more than a little campfire. Taste is on the sweet side, with nice peppery notes and a significant minerality comes into play that wasn’t there on the aroma.

Bozal Cuixe is light on the palate with bright flavors. There is a perfume spice flavor here and it goes down like velvet with some grape sweetness. The finish is slightly artificial and sour but overall smooth. The price is quite low for a mezcal from agave cuixe. Excellent value for the price point. This mezcal is commonly used in bars for mixing. It has a good smokey, medicinal, vanilla and sweet flavor to it. It’s not as complex as other top shelf mezcals, but it’s pretty good. This would make an excellent entry level Mezcal for those who want to differentiate from tequila.

This “innovation” of being a cristalino just strips the juice out of its potential richness and complexity. Feels thin and watered down, some smoke, no depth, vanilla notes come out, but maybe due to some additives present. Sweet notes on the nose and in the front taste.
